LITTLETON, MA – September 24, 2010 — Curtiss-Wright Controls Electronic Systems (CWCEL), a business group of Curtiss-Wright Controls and a leading designer and manufacturer of rugged deployed subsystems for the aerospace and defense market, has announced the availability of the newest addition to its Hybricon® family of rugged chassis. The RME13 is a 16-slot OpenVPX™/VITA 65 rackmount enclosure. Designed for OpenVPX development applications, the RME13 meets stringent ANSI/VITA 65 power and cooling requirements for 6U 150 W OpenVPX modules.

“The new RME13 OpenVPX chassis extends the Hybricon product family’s reputation as an industry leading supplier of development platforms and rugged enclosures that can deliver peak performance in the most extreme temperature environments,” said David Dietz, vice president and general manager of Curtiss-Wright Controls Electronic Systems group. “The RME13 is a great example of how Curtiss-Wright Controls plans to expand the Hybricon brand in the rugged embedded military market.”

Measuring 18.96″ (W) x 22.69″ (H) x 19.88″ (D), the RME13 chassis is constructed of aluminum. This enclosure is designed for an operating temperature range of 0°C to 55°C.

RME13 Performance Features:

* >18 CFM/slot airflow with high pressure drop modules (per ANSI/VITA 65 OpenVPX)

* Optional front and rear slot blockers available for unpopulated slots

* Airflow: lower front air intake, rear exhaust

* Fan speed control reduces acoustic noise at low temperature

* VPX REDI (VITA 48) Designed to the latest ANSI/VITA 46.0, VITA 46.3-VDSTU, VITA 46.4-VDSTU, VITA 46.6, VITA 46.7-VDSTU, VITA 68, ANSI/VITA 46.10, ANSI/VITA 48.0, ANSI/VITA 48.1 and ANSI/VITA 65 OpenVPX specifications

* Supports full 6U 16-slot 1” pitch backplane with rear transition module support
