Falls Church, VA, May 17, 2011 – HandySoft (www.handysoft.com), a leading provider of BPM technology and solutions, is proud to announce that the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office (LPO) was recognized as a 2011 Laureate for the Computerworld Honors Program. The program, founded in 1988, honors visionary applications of information technology promoting positive social, economic and educational change. LPO received the honor for its innovative use of BPM technology, provided by HandySoft, to streamline and Web-enable the loan guarantee application process. The Loan Programs Office accelerates the commercial deployment of innovative and advanced clean energy technologies in the United States by providing loan guarantees to eligible projects. DOE joins 254 other organizations from 23 countries as Laureates in this year’s program. It was especially competitive this year; all nominations were reviewed for their benefit to society and the results of the technology applied.

DOE’s Loan Programs Office initiated the development of the online portal to transform the loan guarantee application process from a series of complex manual steps of data collection and review to a user-friendly, Web‐based, automated format with front‐end data collection and back‐end review automation. The online application portal has been well received, resulting in faster yet thorough reviews, and greater visibility to both applicants and DOE management.

“This award validates the meaningful impact and innovation behind the Loan Programs Office’s online portal,” said Harry Clarke, CEO of HandySoft. “The portal demonstrates the successful and effective implementation of BPM technology. We feel extremely proud to have been involved in this project and to have had the opportunity to nominate this worthy effort.”

The Computerworld Honors awards will be presented at the Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony & Gala Awards on June 20, 2011 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington D.C.
