Stockholm, Sweden, September 20, 2006 — Imsys Technologies, a world leading manufacturer of processors, modules and tools for embedded Java applications, today announces the availability of a new RoHS* compliant line of products based on its TINI compatible SNAP module. The product is used in medical devices, industrial terminals, security systems and many other networked applications where connectivity, physical size and Java performance is important. Customers selling products into regulated markets like the EU now have the choice of a fully RoHS compliant version for the processor module.

Imsys Technologies brings connectivity and Java together for embedded applications with the SNAP module. The combination of hardware and software constitutes a very efficient platform for program development and execution, especially for Java. With Ethernet, TCP/IP stack and a multitude of other serial channels the platform offers protocol conversion and compatibility with the industry standard TINI. A full and Sun Microsystems certified Java ME–CLDC implementation runs in the Imsys IM1000 processor on the module. Programs can be developed in freely available tools like Sun JDK and the open source framework Eclipse, and sent to the module for execution. For programmers in need of using other languages the Imsys Developer PC host software offers a fully integrated design environment for handling a mix of Java, C and ASM32 programming and debugging.

“This small but powerful platform enables designers of embedded systems to get Java applications on-line and be productive from the start”, says Ola Andersson, Imsys CEO. “With the new series of modules and strategy of the company we can now offer customized versions for different requirements. The open reference design provides easy integration of customized functionality into cost and performance optimized systems”.

The modules come with memory sizes from 2 to 8MB. The RoHS-compliant SNAP is available from October 2006 and price starts (100 units) at US $128/each for the 4MB version.
