BAE Systems Inc. in Los Angeles, CA has issued a contract to VMETRO for a Multi-Channel High-Speed Data Collection and Playback system which will be used in the testing of the Autonomous Landing Guidance System. The Multi-Channel High-Speed Data Collection and Playback system is based on VMETRO’s Vortex Open Data Recording systems utilizing PMC modules for A/D and D/A as well as GPS. The Data recorder will store 6 channels of high speed analog radar data, 2 low speed analog signals, a MIL-STD 1553 and an ARINC 429 analog input to a Fibre Channel Storage Area Network. The SAN will have a maximum recording time of almost 2 hours. The contract is valued at USD 400,000.

BAE Systems’ breakthrough Autonomous Landing Guidance system enables safe landings in zero visibility conditions. The ALG System projects onto the pilot’s Head-Up-Display a clear view of the landing area even in low visibility weather conditions. This millimeter-wave radar-based system provides a clear image of the runway and environment to the pilot. This system improves safety of flight due to enhanced situation awareness and increases operation capability in conditions due to fog, dust and other obscurants.
