Mercury Systems Receives $6.0M Follow-On RF Microelectronics Order for Airborne Electronic Warfare Application

Chelmsford MA – May 25, 2006 – TEK Microsystems, Inc. of Chelmsford MA today announced that it has received orders approaching $.5M from General Dynamics Electric Boat of Groton, CT for its PowerRACE-2 I/O Controllers and TAXI protocol-based PMC modules. These advanced I/O processing engines will be used in the Total Ship Monitoring System (TSMS) of Virginia-class submarines to quickly detect and isolate noise generated by the submarine. The Virginia-class submarine is an advanced stealth multi-mission submarine that extensively uses commercial off the shelf technologies. The TSMS maximizes a submarine’s acoustic stealth advantage by providing continuous noise monitoring and alerting the crew to any conditions that could degrade the mission or performance capabilities of the submarine.

“Tekmicro’s advanced I/O products continue to be well received in both our commercial and military market targets,” comments Paul Martino, vice president of sales, marketing and customer support. “This win from Electric Boat coupled with the large win from Northrop Grumman late last year is fueling record growth at Tekmicro. Add to that our exclusive license to sell and produce QinetiQ VXS products and we are confident that this growth will accelerate even faster over the 3rd and 4th quarters.”

The PowerRACE-2 family of I/O controllers is an ideal platform for streaming I/O applications such the noise monitoring system of TSMS. Several hundred sensors are installed throughout the submarine to monitor the noise levels of all systems. The PowerRACE-2 is fully fabric enabled with supporting software and drivers to allow the TAXI-based PMC module to deliver the required I/O processing speeds required by the TSMS program.
