The new fdXTap from AIM is a small easy to use box which connects to a PC via a USB 2.0 high speed interface.
Hansjoerg Frey, General Manager at AIM GmbH says “The Monitor Tap has been introduced to the market to provide AFDX / ARINC664 users with a quick, simple and cost efficient way to monitor AFDX / ARINC664 traffic between End Systems and Switches. The physical ‘Tap’ and the AFDX / ARINC664 electronics for traffic processing, monitoring and filtering functionality are all contained in one small box reducing the complexity of the network cabling and routing”.
At the core of the fdXTap there are two Bus Interface Units (BIU’s) with 600Mhz Xscale Processors with 128MB Global memory. The fdXTap™ also incorporates a high precision ‘free wheeling’ IRIG-B time code generator/de-coder and can output a standard amplitude modulated IRIG-B signal.
fdXTap™ functionality includes comprehensive filtering/ triggering/ capturing, VL oriented receive and chronological monitoring operation with 100% AFDX/ ARINC664 network recording. The fdXTap™ is fully compatible with optional fdXplorer and ParaView databus analyzer / visualizer software for Windows.
