Oslo, Norway – August 24, 2010: In order to contribute to the development of the new industry standards shaping the future of critical embedded systems, and to take advantage of the results of all work done by VITA Standards Organization (VSO), Galleon Embedded Computing has signed up as a VITA member.
“With the OpenVPX specification, VSO has turned VPX and VPX-REDI into a truly open standard with board-level interoperability between independent vendors,” says Terje Melsom, CTO and co-founder of Galleon Embedded Computing AS. “We would like to influence future standards to push in the same direction which allows smaller vendors to provide niche products to the system integrators, benefitting the price and performance of the overall solution”.
“The embedded industry has experienced a massive wave of consolidation over the past decade. The newly ratified OpenVPX standard is an important enabler for smaller board-level companies such as Galleon Embedded Computing to enter a market now dominated by a handful of very large system vendors.” says Ray Alderman, Executive Director of VITA. “These smaller companies are important in that they bring diversity and new innovation to the market.”
