SUNNYVALE, Calif. – November 20, 2008 — PLX Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLXT), the leading global supplier of PCI Express® (PCIe®) switch and bridge silicon, today announced a successful broad inclusion of its PCI Express 2.0 switch product line onto the PCI-SIG® Integrators List for the PCIe architecture. PLX has successfully completed the rigorous testing procedures of the latest PCI-SIG compliance workshop with its industry-leading ExpressLane™ PCIe 2.0 switch portfolio. All eleven available PLX PCI Express 2.0 devices are now on this exclusive list: PEX 8604, 8606, 8608, 8612, 8614, 8616, 8618, 8624, 8632, 8647 and 8648 PCI Express 2.0 devices.
The first PCI-SIG compliance workshop to test PCIe 2.0, held September 9-12, 2008, in Silicon Valley, was heavily attended by PCI-SIG member companies, a majority of whom successfully tested on a system showcasing an individual PLX PCIe switch. Many companies use the PCI-SIG Integrators List when making important purchasing decisions. The PCI Express 2.0 Integrators List can be found here www.pcisig.com/developers/compliance_program/in[…].
The six different areas of PCI Express compliance testing included:
• Electrical testing: Examines platform and add-in card signal quality
• Configuration testing: Examines configuration space in devices based on PCIe
• Link protocol testing: Tests device behavior for link-level protocol
• Transaction protocol testing: Tests device behavior for transaction-level protocol
• Platform BIOS testing: Tests platform BIOS ability to recognize and configure devices based on PCIe
• Interoperability testing: tests performed with other vendors to confirm market compatibility
“The September compliance workshop was a resounding success and we are pleased to see companies like PLX join the Integrators List,” said Al Yanes, PCI-SIG chairman and president. “Developers taking advantage of the PCIe 2.0 architecture are backed by a strong association, with more than 800 worldwide members and ongoing support of new requirements as the PCIe specification progresses to 3.0.”
“Achieving compliance is a tremendous accomplishment and many detailed tasks had to be performed flawlessly to get this result,” said Larry Chisvin, chief operating officer, PLX. “From the design of the chips to the preparation and execution of the workshop itself, along with all the problem-solving and testing that occurred in between, passing this compliance workshop is also a key foundation of PLX’s market leadership position in PCIe switch silicon solutions.”
