STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Rave Computer announced the relocation of the company’s headquarters to a 9-acre campus shared with the Macomb-Oakland University INCubator. Both organizations, located within the “Defense Corridor” and Technology Advancement SmartZone of Sterling Heights, partnered for a grand opening celebration.

Rave Computer brings over 15 years of experience and success within the defense industry. Twenty percent of Rave’s business was in defense five years ago. By 2009, that number has grown to approximately 60 percent.

Key government, business, and community leaders gathered for a formal program and campus tours at the July 20th event.

Speakers included:

•Congressman Sander Levin

•Congresswoman Candice Miller

•Macomb County Commission Chair Paul Gieleghem

•Sterling Heights Mayor Richard Notte

•Oakland University President Dr. Gary Russi

•TARDEC Director Dr. Grace M. Bochenek

•General Dynamics Land Systems President Mark Roualet

The Rave Computer facility tour showcased partner and customer exhibits that demonstrated their products powered by Rave technologies.

“We are excited about our new facility, our location within Sterling Heights, and to be an anchor tenant to the Macomb-OU INCubator,” said Rick Darter, President and CEO of Rave Computer. “This partnership gives Rave the opportunity to work along side local government, and technology businesses. Rave will be able to offer technological solutions that will support their business development and also gives us access to new ideas and solutions that we can leverage to our mutual advantages.”

Rave goes “Green” and Expands Technology Center

The expanded 35,000 square feet “Green” facility was built to meet LEED-CI Silver Certification.

The new facility also houses a larger, state-of-the-art Technology Integration Center which provides increased efficiency and flexibility in Rave’s engineering and manufacturing processes.

The Technology Integration Center is fully equipped with independent power buses and network switches at each workstation, allowing each technician and engineer to operate independently. Its flooring is permanently coated with an electrostatic discharge material, to discharge electrostatic energy and prevent damage to systems and components. Each workstation and burn-in rack is also static dissipative and fully grounded to protect against possible static electricity damage.

Additionally, each workstation features a dedicated Keyboard-Video-Mouse switch so that all computers on the technician’s rack can be controlled with a single console, which improves manufacturing efficiency while reducing power consumption.

Corporate Partner and Business Leader

Rave Computer is the Macomb-OU INCubator’s first corporate partner and anchor tenant.

“Every community deserves to have a Rave Computer,” said Luke Bonner, economic development manager for the city of Sterling Heights. “CEO Rick Darter has a tremendous vision for his company which includes being a model corporate citizen. Rave’s contribution and role with the incubator program is sincerely appreciated.”
