New Schroff RoHS Compliant VME Backplanes Offer Additional Performance Enhancements

WARWICK, RI—New VME backplanes from Schroff® comply with the provisions of the European Union’s Reduction of

Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive, 2002/95/EC, while conforming to the VITA 1-1994 specification. These RoHS

compliant backplanes offer other enhanced features that improve their performance, versatility and reliability.

The new VME RoHS compliant backplanes are assembled using automated surface mount technology. This process provides for accurate, repeatable component placement and greater component reliability.

The new RoHS compliant backplanes also feature Electronic Automatic Daisy Chain (EDC) circuitry to switch the IACK and

BusGrant signals for added application flexibility. Inboard termination is field changeable between active and passive via

manual jumpers.

The outer layers of the backplane laminate construction are groundplanes to maximize EMC performance.. The backplane

mounting hole pattern offers isolated or conductive mounting options.
