Extreme Engineering Solutions, Inc. (X-ES) announces the availability of three 6U single-board computers (SBCs) based on the Freescale QorIQ P2020 processor: the XCalibur1700 6U CompactPCI SBC, the XCalibur1730 VME SBC, and the XCalibur1740 6U VPX SBC.
These three new 6U SBCs complete X-ES’s QorIQ P2020 processor-based product line, which now includes 3U CompactPCI, 6U CompactPCI, 3U VPX, 6U VPX, VME, XMC, and PMC. X-ES offers all P2020-based products in both air-cooled and conduction-cooled configurations, supporting a wide variety of commercial, industrial, and military applications.
The XCalibur1700, 1730, and 1740 all feature:
* Freescale QorIQ P2020 processor with two 1.2-GHz PowerPC e500 cores
* Up to 8 GB of DDR3-800 ECC SDRAM
* Up to 16 GB of user flash and 256 MB of boot flash
* Two XMC/PrPMC sites
* Three Gigabit Ethernet ports
* One SATA 3 Gb/s port
* Two serial ports
* One USB port
* Operating system Board Support Packages (BSPs):
o Green Hills INTEGRITY™
o Wind River VxWorks™
o Linux
“All of our P2020-based products support pin-compatible processors in the QorIQ P1 and P2 families – the P1011, P1020, 2010, and P2020,” states Aaron Lindner, Engineering Manager for X-ES. “While this may not be as important for the 6U applications that typically are not as power-conscious, for XMC, PMC, 3U VPX, and 3U cPCI applications, this enables our customers to choose the CPU performance/power that fits their application.”
“X-ES is providing software compatibility across many of our QorIQ processors,” states Glenn Beck, Aerospace and Defense Segment Marketing Manager at Freescale Semiconductor. “X-ES has taken advantage of the pin compatibility of QorIQ to provide customers a broad spectrum of price, performance and power products.” By the third quarter of this year, X-ES plans to support all five current generation QorIQ processor platforms on the seven form factors X-ES supports.
To satisfy the widest range of applications, from telecommunications to military applications with MIL-STD 810F requirements, all of X-ES’s P2020 products are available in air-cooled, commercial (0 to 55 ºC) to rugged, conduction-cooled (-40 to +85 ºC) versions with appropriate shock and vibration testing.
