PISCATAWAY, N.J. — July 17, 2007 — On the heels of a highly successful Embedded Systems Conference and the first Power Architecture Software Summit, Power.org(TM), the open collaborative organization that enables, develops and promotes Power Architecture(R) technology, announced eight new members have joined the ecosystem.

Eco-System Growth
The Power.org ecosystem is an open community of companies that design, develop, build, and support Power Architecture wide breadth of expertise and solutions including microprocessors, design tools, hardware vendors, software, OEM and foundries. Power.org’s newest members include Lauterbach GmbH, LynuxWorks Inc., MontaVista Software, Inc., P.A. Semi, VaST Systems Technology, Tundra Semiconductor, Wind River, and XGI.
Technical Advances
Power.org currently has five technical subcommittees (TSC), three technical work groups and a community of more than 6,500 involved worldwide. Nearly $300 million in venture capital funding is invested in startup member companies.
Since January, Power.org initiated work on e-PAPR, an extensible embedded platform designed to strengthen the Power Architecture platform across embedded applications; the Common Debug Interface to identify areas for a common debug environment, interface and methodology in both software and hardware; announced the availability of the PPC970MP server/workstation reference design, a PAPR-compliant platform based on the dual core 970MP processor. In addition, the Disruptive Play Work Group named Warren Savage (President/CEO IPextreme, Inc.) as its new Chair and Kimberly Fountain (IBM, Director in IBM’s Venture Capital Group) as assistant chair. This informal Technical Workgroup provides a collaborative environment in Power.org to be a key forum for new and innovative ideas that enhance Power.org, the Power Architecture ecosystem and new business concepts. In September, Power.org will host the first-ever vendor-neutral Power Architecture(TM) Developer Conference designed to provide a forum for a balanced, independent discussion of Power Architecture technology and its applications, designed to inspire ideas and innovation. More than 500 electronics designers, developers, academics and investors will join dozens of solutions vendors for two days of technical sessions, hands-on labs, engaging keynotes and vendor demonstrations.
Demonstrating the power of the Power Architecture community, nearly 100 signed on to participate in the Power.org Software Summit, designed to showcase the capabilities of Power-based applications and build momentum for a more well-defined, broader base of applications for the Power Architecture in consumer desktops and embedded applications. Work initiated at this Summit will be carried on through a regular series of feedback sessions to ensure that the momentum of the Power Architecture has the full support of open standards.
