Carbon Design Systems®, the leading supplier of virtual platform and secure model solutions, celebrates its 10th anniversary this month, reaffirming its commitment to work on the problem it was founded to solve: pre-silicon system validation.
In the highly competitive Electronic Design Automation industry, Carbon Design Systems continues to distinguish itself with its superior technology, a focus on pre-silicon system validation, and a commitment to maximizing designer productivity. Over the past 10 years, it has evolved to include the entire system validation ecosystem. “It’s amazing how a solution for system validation has advanced and how we’ve evolved and grown with it,” says Bill Neifert, Carbon’s founder and chief technology officer, commenting on this milestone.
For example, Carbon redefined itself in 2008 as a virtual prototyping company through the purchase of SoCDesigner from ARM. A joint agreement with ARM gave Carbon the ability to compile ARM’s RTL code into 100% accurate virtual models, replacing a library of hand-written models.
In 2010, Carbon unveiled Carbon IP Exchange, a web portal to configure and compile models from ARM, MIPS, Cadence, Arteris and Imagination Technologies. It recently announced virtual reference platforms and the accompanying software for its processor models that include the ARM Cortex A-15 through the ARM 926 and its entire portfolio of MIPS processors.
Throughout 2012, Carbon will unveil more complex platforms to further simplify the tasks of virtual prototype assembly and system integration.
About Carbon Design Systems
