RIO6-8096 6U VME64x SBC |
• Conduction-cooled, 6U VME64x with PCIe over VME-P0
• Freescale® QorIQ® P2010 (single core) or P2020 (dual core) processor
• CES FlexIO™ technology for easy pinout customization
• Optional user-programmable Xilinx Spartan®-6 FPGA
“The RIO6-8096 is ideal for technology insertion into airborne applications requiring conduction-cooled equipment”, stated Hervé Garchette, CEO, CES. “It brings the performance of modern processors and interconnects into traditional VME systems without the need to replace the backplane and other legacy equipment.” The CES FlexIO™ technology makes it possible to adapt the pinout of the RIO6-8096 to the rest of the system, making it a plug-in replacement for obsolete SBCs. The FPGA-based VME bridge from CES guarantees unlimited obsolescence management.
The RIO6-8096 is an extension of the RIO6 family with high-speed PCIe links over the standard VME-P0 connector of any existing VME64x backplane. The RIO6 family is designed for data acquisition, processing and distribution in demanding aerospace and defense applications, such as mission control, video and radar processing.
The RIO6-8096 introduces support for a PCIe x4 connection over any traditional VME64x backplane that is fitted with VME-P0 connectors. The innovative onboard VME-P0 connector allows PCIe links through the traditional VME-P0 backplane connectors, allowing the insertion of new technology without the need to replace the enclosures and backplanes. This PCIe over VME-P0 connection allows the connection of an ISC-8422 intelligent carrier to the RIO6, providing two additional PMC/XMC sites linked to the same SBC. It also allows a high-throughput PCIe x4 connection between two RIO6-8096 boards in addition to the VMEbus.
The unique CES FlexIO™ static routing module, introduced on the original RIO6-8092/93 products, enables easy customization for any custom VME-P2 pin-out requirements. It also carries an optional Xilinx Spartan®-6 user FPGA fully allocated to the customer application, with four dedicated high-speed links to one of the auxiliary XMC connectors, and a PCIe link to the central onboard switch.
The RIO6-8096 has up to 4 GB of high-speed DDR3 SDRAM with ECC protection and 2 GB of onboard Flash. Onboard features and interconnects include: 12 port PCI Express Gen2 switch, CES FlexIO™ static routing module, PCIe x4 on VME-P0, PCIe x4 to XMC, three 10/100Base-Tx/1000Base-T ports on VME-P2, and USB 2.0 on VME-P2. Various rear transition modules (RTMs) are available to access the wide range of I/O and debug signals.
The RIO6-8096 is delivered with the classic CES PPCMon bootloader and monitor application, and an extended board support package (BSP) for Linux®, VxWorks® or Integrity®. In addition, a wide range of enablement tools and software is available from Freescale® and third parties.
