Small rugged VPX Chassis Features 78 Ethernet ports plus 8 router ports

Sunnyvale, CA. PCI-SYSTEMS Inc. , manufacturer of conduction cooled rugged computer systems, has announced its new four slot enclosure as a “out of the box” deployable 3U packaging solution for the Juniper Networks LN-1000 rugged edge access router.

It also features 3 additional Ethernet switch slots for Marvell and Vitesse Gigabit Ethernet modules, manufactured by PCI Systems.

These switch modules comply with OpenVPX Slot Profile: (SLT3-SWH-2F24U-14.4.3) and feature 24×1 GbE ports with SGMII, 1000BASE-X SerDes, 2× 12 Gbps stacking ports or 2×10 GbE XAUI ports.

They also support four-lane XAUI or two-lane VAUI.

A total of 78 Ethernet ports plus 8 router ports are accessible through MIL-DTL 38999 connectors.

This new chassis features low weight and is ruggedized and sealed to IP65.

The Juniper Networks LN Series Rugged Secure Routers provide high-performance network routing, next generation firewall, and unified threat management, capabilities in a single platform. These hardened devices were designed to withstand the strongest vibrations and shock.

The absence of vents and other openings make them dust proof and splash resistant, and the lack of moving parts such as fans allows the LN Series routers to operate maintenance-free for years.
