PALO ALTO, Calif. — VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, hosted its 3rd Annual Government & Education Innovation Summit Sacramento on April 24, where VMware subject-matter experts provided insights on the virtualization, cloud, and mobility solutions that are enabling the software-defined data center for California government and education institutions.
The Summit drew hundreds of California government and education IT professionals. Mel Stockwell, Deputy Chief Cloud Strategist of VMware Public Sector gave the keynote speech, focusing on IT trends and cloud predictions.
Key topics presented included how to obtain true insight into one’s virtual infrastructure performance, managing security and networking in a virtual world, and the benefits of the software-defined data center through virtualizing compute, storage and networking infrastructure.
VMware customers in the state of California discussed how these solutions are enabling them to manage their organizations, increasing agility, improving service delivery, reducing costs and energy consumption, and equipping personnel to securely access data and applications anytime, from anywhere.
“The Government and Education Innovation Summit was an excellent way to connect with our public sector customers, helping them gain a better understanding of ways to maximize their IT investments in support of their mission,” said Tim Merrigan, Senior Director, U.S. State, Local and Education, VMware. “Our hands-on labs were especially effective in helping our guests truly see how VMware is changing the way IT services are delivered and consumed.”
