Over 30 years since the introduction of VMEbus, the technology remains a mainstream contender. VMEbus bridge parts are critical to the continued success. IOxOS Technologies is releasing the ALTHEA 7910, a PCI Express x4 GEN1/GEN2 to VME64x transparent bridge embeds a DMA engine that works with on-chip memory and an optional DDR3 external device.
The ALTHEA 7910 implements a full VME64x Master/Slave interface with System Controller functions with a direct bridge to a true PCI Express Endpoint, fully compliant with revision 2.1. Its highly efficient Network on chip (NoC) architecture delivers extremely low latency combined with high data bandwidth, making this solution ideally suited to upgrade VME COTS to the next generation embedded systems. The ALTHEA 7910 package includes a Xilinx Artix-7 XC7A75T, the encrypted binary programming file, device drivers with source code, user libraries, and XprsMon.
