The Navy has announced their intention to award a contract to Raytheon for AN/SPS-73 OJ-727(V) tech refresh kits in support of AN/SPS-73(V) surface-search shipboard radar. The mid-December 2014 contract specifies Acromag’s time tested high-performance FPGA modules that are well suited for COTS projects.
The AN/SPS-73 is a short-range, two-dimensional, surface-search/navigation radar system that provides contact range and bearing information. The tech refresh will improve signal processing and automatic target detection capabilities.
“This award is just one more example of Acromag’s commitment to legacy and tech refresh applications in the Mil/Aero marketplace,” announced Nathan Harris, Eastern Regional Sales Manager for US and Canada. “Our true strength is in our ability to leverage a secure supply chain and our own inventory of raw materials and manufacture products on-demand in our Wixom, Michigan facility.”
