Billerica, MA: July 12th 2006: Demonstrating the company’s leadership in delivering the most flexible solutions to its customers, Radstone Embedded Computing today announced the PMCD3 rugged multifunction PMC. Based on the Marvell Discovery III integrated system controller and designed to complement Radstone’s market-leading range of single board computers, the PMCD3 offers support for up to three active Gigabit Ethernet ports (copper and optical); up to two fast sync/async serial ports; up to two standard async serial ports; and up to three Firewire ports.

“Our customers continually tells us that what they really value is the flexibility to be able to accommodate the widest possible range of peripherals in today’s rapidly evolving defense marketplace,” said Richard Kirk, Product Marketing Manager at Radstone Embedded Computing. “Radstone has long been a leader in developing highly flexible PMC and PMC-like solutions – such as our innovative AFIX Additional Flexible Interface Xtension card – and the PMCD3 further extends the range of options we can offer.”

The PMCD3, which is 64 bit/133 MHz PCI-x capable, provides up to five Ethernet ports in total (three copper and two optical), three of which can be active at any one time. Two copper ports are dedicated to rear I/O with a third capable of routing to either the front or rear (factory build option). The two optical ports are dedicated to front I/O via low profile optical receivers. Two fast sync/async serial ports are implemented via the Marvell Discovery III integrated system controller while two async serial ports are implemented via the dual UART. A maximum of three Firewire ports are available with two ports dedicated to rear I/O only: a third can, if required, be routed to the front.

Radstone’s comprehensive software support package includes driver support for Wind River’s VxWorks, LynxOS from LynuxWorks and Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY.
