Curtiss-wright Awarded Contract For Amphibious Assault Vehicle

ASHBURN, Va. – – Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) today announced that its Defense Solutions division has received a contract from Strategic Communications LLC to supply its rugged network router and switch subsystems to support the upgrade of the US Marine Corps (USMC) AAVC-7 Amphibious Assault Vehicle. Under the program, Curtiss-Wright supplied Strategic Communications, under subcontract to Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) from the US Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), with its Cisco® IOS-based Parvus® DuraMAR® 5915 router and Parvus DuraNET® 30-2020 switch subsystems. These Curtiss-Wright space, weight, power and cost (SWaP-C) optimized line replaceable units (LRUs) provide network connectivity for the tactical communications equipment used onboard the AAVC-7 vehicles. Shipments began in October 2014 and were concluded at the end of the year.

“We are very excited to have been selected to provide our COTS-based rugged networking system technology for use in this important USMC vehicle upgrade program,” said Lynn Bamford, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Defense Solutions division. “We are proud to continue and extend our role as the incumbent supplier of networking subsystems for the USMC’s Amphibious Assault Vehicle by supporting this next-generation upgrade to newer ruggedized Cisco IOS-based technologies.”

Curtiss-Wright’s Parvus networking systems are currently deployed on a previous generation of the USMC’s amphibious assault vehicle. Under this upgrade program, newer AAV vehicles will be outfitted with Cisco IOS-based Parvus solutions that provide enhanced, comprehensive security and networking features. The Curtiss-Wright products covered by the contract are listed on the DoD Unified Capabilities Approved Product List (APL) and validated for DoD agency worldwide use for information assurance and interoperability.

The Defense Solutions division manufactured the products covered by this agreement at its facilities in Salt Lake City, Utah. The products were shipped to US Navy SPAWAR in Hanahan, S.C.
