Loughborough, UK – CommAgility, a developer of hardware and software for wireless networks, is now offering customers Release 10 LTE PHY software on Texas Instruments (TI) small cell processors.
CommAgility acquired LTE software developer MIMOon in March 2015. MIMOon has previously provided Release 9 LTE PHY for TI devices, and CommAgility will continue this offering while extending the product to the Release 10 feature set.
“TI is pleased to work with companies such as CommAgility and extend on the relationship previously established with MIMOon,” said Sameer Wasson, General Manager Communications Infrastructure at Texas Instruments. “CommAgility’s expertise in LTE layer 1 PHY, and hardware reference designs for communications systems, provides a solution to our customers to accelerate time to market, while focusing on delivering a differentiated product to the market.”
Edward Young, Managing Director at CommAgility, said: “This new agreement is a demonstration of TI’s confidence in CommAgility. Since CommAgility acquired MIMOon, we have been able to add CommAgility’s expertise in hardware and RF to MIMOon’s proven software offering.”
As well as the standard LTE PHY, CommAgility has the expertise and resource to customise the software for special requirements as required by customer applications. For example, this could include network sniffing, larger cells, and high-speed mobility as well as specialized LTE User Equipment (UE) support. CommAgility can also customise its hardware products based on TI processors, ensuring that customers can benefit from the optimum integrated solution of hardware and software that best matches their needs.
TI’s Small Cell processors provide customers a common hardware and software platform that scales from enterprise and pico systems to micro and C-RAN products. The TCI6630K2L Communications Infrastructure KeyStone System-on-Chip (SoC) is based on TI’s new KeyStone II Multicore SoC Architecture. It is a low-power baseband solution with integrated digital front end (DFE) that meets the more stringent power, size, and cost requirements of small cell wireless base stations.
The CommAgility PHY is available now for TI’s TCI6636K2H, TCI6638K2K and TCI6630K2L devices. For more information on TI’s small cell offerings please visit www.ti.com/smallcells.
