Designers are increasingly turning to 10 GbE and now 40 GbE to achieve levels of performance in 3U VPX systems previously only obtainable from larger and hotter 6U designs. Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions has introduced the VPX3-687 1/10/40 GbE switch module designed to address the increasing demand for 10 and 40 GbE data transfers in embedded systems. With its 320 Gbps of line-rate switching, the fully managed multi-layer VPX3-687 provides support for up to 32 ports of 10 GbE (or eight ports of 40 GbE) in a single 3U slot. This increased performance raises the level of Ethernet connectivity to that previously available only in 6U systems and results in significant Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (SWaP-C) reduction.
Available in air- and conduction-cooled formats, the VPX3-687 offers low-latency and high-speed data links suitable for airborne radar and EW applications. Designed to deliver optimal performance in harsh aerospace and defense environments, the module is ideal for use in manned and unmanned ground vehicle, airborne, and naval deployed platforms.
