Briec-de-l´Odet, France, April 2nd 2007 — Interface Concept, an European leading designer, developer and manufacturer of embedded boards, has announced the ComEth4020a, a

comprehensive line of 6U cPCI/VME full Giga Ethernet Switches, being PICMG 2.16 and VITA 31.1 compliant, for embedded applications.

ComEth4020a is built on the latest generation of Gigabit switch engine and PHY transceiver. It combines a layer 2+ switch and a full layer 3 router in a single equipment with an optimized power consumption. ComEth4020a supports full-wire speed L2 bridging and L3 forwarding with L2-L4 advanced traffic classification, filtering and prioritization. The queue priority

eight levels combined with QoS policy make easier the jitter tuning in critical applications.

ComEth4020a provides 12 or 24 Giga Ethernet ports with a full-wire speed switching capacity of 37Mpps. It has been designed to optimize the integration of mixed switched

networks. The 12 rear Giga channels can be easily integrated in a PICMG2.16 and VITA 31.1 PSB whereas the 12 front fiber ports carry out the fiber network connections. This high level of flexibility only requires one slot in the chassis. Many types of transceivers are available for multi-mode or single mode fiber transmission. One front channel operates in fiber or

10/100/1000BT mode with an automatic interface selection. ComEth4020a fiber channels are the best solution to secure critical data transmission.

ComEth4020a switches are full managed and can easily be monitored from a browser, a remote application, a console or SNMP. The Switchware software provides layer 3 functions,

allowing local IP forwarding (IPv4/ IPv6), static and dynamic protocols (RIP, OSPF) routing, proxy-ARP and DHCP-relay. These L3 functions are managed through a CLI interface. The

IP routing and the L3 protocols are carried out by the processor and the forwarding is carried out by a full-wire speed L3 router.

These switches can be used in all types of environments with operating ranges from standard, extended, rugged and conduction-cooled grades (operating in extended-temperature ranges of -40 to +75°C).

Prices start at $ 6.700,00.
