VMETRO and its subsidiaries VSYSTEMS will be the exclusive distributors of AdvancedIO 10 Gigabit Ethernet products in Europe. In addition, AdvancedIO’s flexible technology will become the basis for advanced 10GbE connectivity in integrated systems sold by VMETRO worldwide. VMETRO will also distribute and support stand-alone AdvancedIO products in North America.

Norway/UK/Sweden/Germany/France/Italy and Vancouver, BC — May 8, 2007 — VMETRO, a leading provider of high performance signal and data processing boards and subsystems, and AdvancedIO Systems, Inc., the technology leader in configurable, 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) connectivity solutions for embedded systems, today announced that they have signed a multi-year distribution and original equipment manufacturing (OEM) agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, VMETRO and its subsidiaries VSYSTEMS will be the exclusive distributors of AdvancedIO products in Europe. In addition, AdvancedIO’s flexible technology will become the basis for advanced 10GbE connectivity in integrated systems sold by VMETRO worldwide. VMETRO will also distribute and support stand-alone AdvancedIO products in North America.

AdvancedIO’s flagship product, the V1020, is the only off-the-shelf 10GbE intelligent XMC/PMC mezzanine module on the market. The V1020 is a 10GbE packet processing engine that functions as a high-speed open-standards-based data pipe. The module improves system performance by offloading communication protocol stacks from embedded processors while presenting a standard sockets-based software interface to the developer. It also facilitates direct streaming of data between 10GbE and other input/output devices, such as analog-to-digital converters. The V1020 is based on reprogrammable Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology to allow the aggregation of other functions such as packet inspection, load balancing, and signal processing. In addition, the ability to reprogram the module provides the benefits of customization and risk reduction at the system integration phase. The module is currently shipping and supports PCI-X and PCI Express® (PCIe).

“AdvancedIO anticipated the demand in the embedded market for the performance and compatibility of 10GbE data pipes and processing,” said Stein-Erik Maurice, Group Marketing Director at VMETRO. “We saw a great opportunity to bring 10GbE to the embedded market in Europe through our sales and support channel. The AdvancedIO products, such as the V1020, are an excellent addition to our product line, especially when combined with our portfolio of targeted solutions and services.”

The agreement expands on an informal relationship between VMETRO and AdvancedIO which has developed through successful collaboration on several customer projects during the past year. These projects have involved 10GbE implementations for data recording applications, avionics test systems, and radar signal processing – all for major defense market contractors.

“We feel that Europe represents a fruitful market for our embedded 10GbE offload and data streaming hardware, algorithms and software, and have been seeking an effective way to promote our products there,” said Rob Kraft, VP Marketing at AdvancedIO. “VMETRO and VSYSTEMS have a very established presence in Europe with great complementary products and services – based on our previous collaboration we believe this will translate into great experiences for our customers.”
