Madison, WI, February 28, 2006 – You’re stymied. Your system isn’t performing as marketing advertised and you need to process more calls per second. Or, your system’s number crunching ability is falling short of the Lab Director’s requirements and you need more processors per blade. Or, maybe you just need a simple Bellcore 1089 surge protected front panel Gigabit Ethernet port on a PrPMC. If you’re looking for solutions to any or all of these problems, consider XPedite6200 from Extreme Engineering.

Extreme Engineering Solutions, a growing embedded products company, announces general availability of XPedite6200 today, a dual processor number cruncher PrPMC powered by Freescale MPC7448’s and QNX or Linux SMP software, or WindRiver’s VxMP. Several ATCA carrier cards can host up to (4) XPedite6200’s, providing (8) total PowerPC processors in a single AdvancedTCA slot. Talk about number crunching capability!

For the system engineer, here are the specifications:

. Processor PMC (PrPMC) Module

. Dual Freescale MPC7448 PowerPC processors with Altivec to 1.267GHz

. Single Freescale MPC7448 to 1.4GHz as a build option

. Marvell Discovery III MV64460 System Controller for superior DDR memory performance, PCI-X and multiple Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) interfaces

. 1 GB of DDR SDRAM

. 128 MB FLASH

. Front panel Bellcore 1089 compliant Ethernet port for development or port usage in the field, or PTMC Configuration 5 Ethernet ports routed to J14 for baseboard connectivity

. In-house software support for QNX and Linux SMP software and VxWorks VxMP

. Extreme’s guaranteed 4 hour response time to technical questions.

“XPedite6200 brings a new level of compute power and SMP software to PrPMC’s,” states Bret Farnum VP Sales of Extreme Engineering. “Several early adopters of XPedite6200 have increased their system performance by an order of magnitude compared to single processor solutions and a seemingly insignificant option like a front panel ethernet port is a tremendous ‘in-field service’ advantage for our customers.”

“Some customers utilize variable build options of the XPedite6200 in their system, taking advantage of our flexible design and build plans on the hardware,” adds Farnum.

“Developers of high end networking equipment are constantly demanding increasing computation power. The combination of the Extreme Engineering XPedite6200 and QNX Multi-processing technology has allowed major customers to fully realize the performance benefits of symmetric multi-processing in their systems,” said Romain Saha, Netcom Segment Manager at QNX Software Systems. “QNX Multi-core Edition, a comprehensive multi-processing software platform, is available for demonstration on the Extreme hardware today.”

XPedite6200 is the sixth PrPMC released by Extreme Engineering and first dual processor MPC7448 PrPMC on the market. Depending on specific customer applications, Extreme has an appropriate PrPMC solution for applications including Video Editing equipment, high-speed Data movement and storage, conduction cooled flight computers and more. Development platforms for XPedite6200 are available from Extreme Engineering, jump starting any software development efforts with immediate shipment available.
