Performance Technologies (NASDAQ: PTIX), a leading developer of communication platforms and systems, today announced that its Advanced Managed Platform products are to be utilized as part of Raytheon Companys (NYSE: RTN) SSDS Mk 2 (Ship Self-Defense System) program.
Raytheon’s SSDS Mk 2 is the only surface combat direction system with COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) hardware and software that has been delivered for tactical certification. SSDS Mk 2 Open Architecture will advance the existing design to meet the U.S. Navys OACE (Open Architecture Computing Environment) Category 3 requirements. OACE is the Navys initiative to standardize infrastructure requirements that will permit mission-critical data to be easily transmitted between multiple systems for improved combat and operational responses.
The Performance Technologies IP-based platform solution features an Intelligent Shelf Manager (a self-contained computer) that provides sophisticated remote monitoring capabilities, and an IP-based networking platform for the SSDS system. The remote management capabilities enable accurate system monitoring and remote diagnostic capabilities to pinpoint any potential system problems. The Advanced Managed Platform is also programmable – enabling system designers to add more features and functionality to their systems capabilities.
More information on Performance Technologies Intelligent Shelf Manager can be found at www.pt.com/prodtour_ISM_welcome.html.
Raytheons SSDS Mk 2 provides a rapid reaction, anti-air defense capability that identifies and classifies targets, prioritizes and conducts engagement, vectors interceptor aircraft to targets, and exchanges targeting information and engagement orders among a naval battle group and various service components in the joint theater.
“Our IP-based and remote monitoring technologies continue to fit applications where critical components are required,” said Performance Technologies Vice President of Marketing and Sales Edward Bizari. “We look forward to continuing our long relationship with Raytheon in delivering robust and reliable solutions to meet these and other very important system configurations.”
Communication system architects needing advanced, compute-intensive communication and networking solutions can meet with Performance Technologies representatives at the upcoming 2007 Military Communications Conference in Orlando, FL (October 29-31, 2007, booth 1506).
