The X5-400M is a mezzanine I/O module featuring two 14-bit, 400 MSPS A/D and DAC channels with a Virtex5 FPGA computing core and PCI Express host interface on a standard XMC module. A Xilinx Virtex5 SX95 FPGA with 1 GB DDR2 DRAM and 4MB QDR memory provides a very high performance DSP core for demanding applications such as emerging wireless standards. The close integration of the analog I/O, memory and host interface with the FPGA enables real-time signal processing at extremely high rates exceeding 300 GMACs per second.

The X5 XMC modules couple Innovative’s powerful Velocia data flow architecture with a high performance, 8-lane PCI Express interface that provides over 1 GB/s sustained transfer rates to the host. Private links to host cards with over 1.6 GB/s capacity using J16 are provided for system integration.

The X5 family can be fully customized using VHDL and MATLAB using the FrameWork Logic toolset. The MATLAB BSP supports real-time hardware-in-the-loop development using the graphical, block diagram Simulink environment with Xilinx System Generator. Additionally, C++ libraries and drivers for Windows and Linux are supplied to support OEM integration. Complete application examples demonstrating the module and logic features are provided.

The module provides an off-the-shelf solution in the construction of high-speed software radios, RADAR systems and MIMO development platforms. Of particular benefit is the integrated PCI Express, which facilitates the development of ultra-performance data loggers and waveform generators using conventional RAID controllers and ubiquitous Windows or Linux-based desktop or industrial PCs.

Innovative Integration’s president Jim Henderson states, “The X5-400M fills a crucial marketplace void for systems integrators seeking a cost-effective means of integrating a wideband analog I/O subsystem plus a powerful computation engine into myriad compact embedded systems. Packaged as an XMC module, the X5-400M can be used stand-alone,in tight GB/s dedicated networks or within desktop PCI Express-based PCs or cPCIe server blades. This flexibility and the promise of reusability is very enticing.”

Applications include Wireless Receiver and Transmitter, WLAN, WCDMA, WiMAX front-end RADAR, Electronic Warfare, High Speed Data Recording and Playback, High speed servo control and IP development. The X5-400M quantity one pricing is $6,995.00
