Ann Arbor, Michigan – November 2, 2010 – Nematron Corporation announces the launch of a new low-cost, fanless version of the popular ePC-Series of Industrial Computers, the ePC “Lite”. This new variation of the successful ePC-Series addresses the growing demand to provide industrial computers that are low-cost yet have the reliability of a proprietary operator interface. With its Intel®-based, fanless ATOM N270 CPU board and Intel solid state drive, reliability is greatly enhanced with the removal of rotating media and fans. The ePC15T is available for an amazingly low price, and even includes a standard 2-year warranty. With the ePC15T’s ultra-thin design, unparalleled value, superb craftsmanship, and competitive pricing, this new product provides a feasible alternative to proprietary operator interfaces and inexpensive, low-quality offshore alternatives. This new version utilizes an Intel® ATOM N270 1.6 GHz processor and Intel CPU board to provide enough processing power to run the most complex HMI and SCADA applications. In the past, fanless industrial computers have not provided this level of performance and features for such a competitive price. Windows XP Professional and an Intel 40GB SATA Solid State drive are standard, providing enhanced system performance and adequate storage for most factory automation applications. With these high performance drives and the Intel ATOM N270 processor, the ePC15T’s are ideal for virtually any HMI/SCADA application, without the complexity and restrictions of proprietary or Windows CE-based alternatives.
The fanless ePC “Lite” computers come standard with a bright 15” XGA LCD, 1 GB DRAM, analog resistive 5-wire touchscreen, and a NEMA 4 front panel. The ePC “Lite” is powered by a 12 VDC Class 2 power source. An external 100-240 VAC power supply brick is included. I/O ports included on every unit include a 10/100/1000 Ethernet port, one RS-232 port, three USB 2.0 ports, an Audio output, and an external Analog or Digital Video connection that supports dual display with extended desktop when used in conjunction with the internal LCD display. With an extremely compact panel mounting depth of 2.4” (61.0 mm), this may very well be the thinnest industrial computer available with enough processing power for most factory automation applications.
The ePC “Lite” will have UL and cUL 508, European CE and RoHS approvals, making system integration a breeze for virtually any application.
