SAN JOSE, CA – LynuxWorks, Inc., a world leader in real-time embedded solutions, today announced its new name: Lynx Software Technologies.

Gurjot Singh, CEO, Lynx Software Technologies, said, “As the LynxOS RTOS family of products and the LynxSecure separation kernel hypervisor continue to gain increased traction both with our current customers and markets, and with the new Internet connected embedded world, the Lynx Software Technologies name offers the best representation of the company’s forward direction. One reason for this increased adoption of both LynxOS and LynxSecure products is their unique ability to protect connected embedded devices and the Internet of Things (IoT) from advanced cyber threats.”

Over its 25 year history, the company’s products have been used in successive generations of embedded devices, always providing fail-safe reliability with the highest levels of performance. They continue to be baseline solutions to developers building aerospace and defense, avionics, medical, industrial, consumer, office automation, transportation, and security applications and devices. Also, as the new IoT connected embedded world is growing at a dramatic rate, it is creating a new requirement for quality real-time safety and security solutions, especially in industrial automation applications and critical infrastructure. The proven LynxOS and LynxSecure products from Lynx Software Technologies address these needs with open standards based solutions offering reusability while maintaining the highest level of safety and security.

As more and more embedded devices become connected to the Internet, the need for built-in security becomes a necessity for embedded developers. Lynx Software Technologies provides military-grade security in both its LynxOS RTOS and LynxSecure separation kernel hypervisor, giving a secure foundation for this new generation of connected embedded devices. The new rootkit detection capabilities provided by LynxSecure also offers advanced cyber-security protection for embedded devices even if other legacy operating systems are being used.

About LynxOS

As more embedded devices connect to the Internet and each other, LynxOS 7.0 meets the increasing security requirements for real-time operating systems. LynxOS 7.0 brings military-grade security features into the operating system allowing developers to embed these features as they design their system, rather than adding security as an afterthought. This security can be used to protect both user accessible and also M2M based embedded devices, and includes features such as access control lists, audit, quotas, local trusted path, account management, trusted menu manager and OpenPAM.

About LynxOS-178

LynxOS-178 is a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) RTOS that fully satisfies the objectives of the DO-178B level A specification and meets requirements for Integrated Modular Avionics developers. LynxOS-178 is also the only time- and space-partitioned RTOS that has been awarded the FAA Reusable Software Component (RSC) certification. LynxOS-178 provides full POSIX conformance, enabling developers to take advantage of the time-to-market and investment-protection benefits of open standards-based development. The powerful formula of reusable DO-178B certification and POSIX conformance allows developers to meet the most stringent requirements for real-time safety-critical applications while at the same time ensure application portability, software reuse and interoperability between embedded systems.

About LynxSecure Separation Kernel Hypervisor

The separation kernel and “Type-0” hypervisor is an award winning bare-metal architecture, designed from the ground up, that differentiates from type 1 hypervisors by removing the un-needed functionality from the “security sensitive” hypervisor mode, yet virtualizes guest OSes in a tiny stand-alone package. By combining the best-of-breed capabilities of the separation kernel technology and virtualization, LynxSecure provides unmatched capabilities to run one or more guest OS (real-time or GPOS) on embedded, desktop or server platforms. LynxSecure provides one of the most flexible secure virtualization solutions for use in Intel® architecture-based embedded and IT computer systems. Designed to maintain the highest levels of military security, LynxSecure offers an industry-leading combination of security with functionality, allowing developers and integrators to use the latest software and hardware technologies to build complex OS-based systems.
