CHELMSFORD, Mass. ∠June 23, 2014 ∠Mercury Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY, www.mrcy.com), a best-of-breed provider of commercially developed, open sensor and Big Data processing systems for critical commercial, defense and intelligence applications, announced that its Mercury Commercial Electronics facility in Manteca, Calif., received a Superior security rating in a recent vulnerability assessment conducted by the Defense Security Service (DSS). This Superior rating, the highest level awarded to cleared defense contractors by DSS, is the company’s sixth Superior rating overall and a significant milestone for this facility, which previously had earned a Commendable rating. In addition to the Manteca facility, Mercury has received Superior ratings at its headquarters facility in Chelmsford, Mass., as well as its Mercury Commercial Electronics facilities in Salem, N.H., West Caldwell, N.J., Huntsville, Ala. and Hudson, N.H.

“Mercury’s vigilance and dedication to the protection of technology and information for the security and safety of our warfighters permeate every part of our business,” said Gerry Haines, Senior Vice President, Mercury Systems. “We are proud that our employees’ proactive commitment to this tremendous responsibility has again earned Mercury the highest level of trust from the U.S. government.”

A Superior rating is awarded to contractors that consistently and fully implement the requirements of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual in an effective fashion, resulting in a security posture that is superior to other contractors of similar size and complexity. The facility must have documented procedures that heighten the security awareness of employees and foster a spirit of cooperation within the security community. Currently, only 8% of the approximately 13,000 facilities that the DSS oversees receive a Superior rating.
