U.S. DoD Approves Curtiss-Wright COTS Network Switch and Router for Listing on Unified Capabilities Approved Product List (DoD UC APL) |
ASHBURN, Va. – Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) today announced that two industry-leading rugged IT security products from its Defense Solutions division, a Cisco® Systems Solution Technology Integration (STI) partner, have been approved by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) for listing on the DoD Unified Capabilities Approved Product list (DoD UC APL). Having successfully completed testing and certification for Information Assurance (IA) and Interoperability (IO), the Parvus® DuraMAR® 5915 mobile IP Router subsystem and Parvus® DuraNET® 30-2020 managed Ethernet Switch subsystem are now available for purchase directly from the DoD’s Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) website.
The DuraMAR 5915 with Cisco® IOS Rel. 15.2GC TN 1429401 now is listed on the US Department of Defense DISA UC APL (Unified Capabilities Approved Product List) as a Customer Edge Router (CER). The DuraNET 30-2020, which features Cisco IOS 15.2E TN 1429402, is listed on the APL as an Access Internet Protocol (IP) Switch.
“We are very proud to be able to announce DoD APL Approval for the Parvus DuraMAR 5915 router and DuraNET 30-2020 switch, which informs DoD agencies these Unified Capabilities systems may be purchased and operated over all DoD network infrastructures worldwide,” said Lynn Bamford, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Defense Solutions division. “The UC APL listing tells DoD agencies that Curtiss-Wright’s Parvus products have met DISA’s demanding security and functional requirements. It also provides any organization that their rigorous standards for security, high availability, and performance can be met by Curtiss-Wright.”
About the APL
The purpose of the DoD Unified Capabilities (UC) APL is to maintain a single consolidated list of products that have completed Interoperability (IO) and Information Assurance (IA) certification. Use of the DoD UC APL allows DoD Components to purchase and operate UC systems over all DoD network infrastructures. The APL is the only listing of equipment by DoD to be fielded in DoD networks. DoD components are required to fulfill their system needs by only purchasing APL listed products, providing one of the listed products meets their needs. This means the APL must be consulted prior to purchasing a system or product. If no listed product meets the organization’s needs, they may sponsor a product for testing that does meet their needs.
About the Parvus DuraMAR 5915
Integrating Cisco 5915 Embedded Services Router (ESR) technology, the DuraMAR 5915 delivers optimal networking performance in all mobile, harsh conditions. This rugged, small form factor subsystem is qualified to meet MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F, MIL-STD-1275, and MIL-STD-704F standards. Thanks to its industry standard Cisco IOS-based routing architecture, the unit speeds and simplifies the integration of networking routing and switching functionality in deployed industrial, along with military and commercial aerospace applications such as tactical ground vehicles and rotary and fixed wing aircraft, while reducing user training requirements. It enables system integrators to deploy Cisco Mobile Ready Net capabilities, including data, video, and voice services, virtually anywhere LAN or WAN connectivity may be required, especially in mobile, airborne, ground, manned or unmanned vehicle and sensor applications.
About the Parvus DuraNET 30-2020
The Parvus DuraNET 30-2020 is an ultra-rugged 19-port Cisco IOS-managed Layer 2+ network switch subsystem integrating Cisco’s ESS 2020 Embedded Services Switch technology with an isolated MIL-STD-1275/704 power supply in an IP67 (dust/water proof) sealed aluminum chassis with MIL-DTL-38999 connectors. Designed for Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) sensitive harsh military and civil environments (i.e. aircraft, vehicle, mining, industrial), the unit provides reliable local area network (LAN) switching capabilities with the ease of use, secure access, and manageability expected from Cisco-based technology.
The DuraMAR 5915 and DuraNET 30-2020 subsystems complement Curtiss-Wright Cisco-based Parvus family subsystems, including the DuraNET 3000 and DuraNET 4948, as well as non-Cisco-based networking line replaceable units (LRUs) such as the DuraNET 20-10. They also complement Curtiss-Wright DuraCOR and DuraWORX mission computer subsystems, which can be mechanically integrated with either of these APL-listed Cisco-based router/switch units.
