Springfield, VA – August 26, 2008 — Cornet Technology, Inc. today announced that its Communications division has won a contract to develop next generation Maritime Embedded Global Positioning System Adapters (MEGA) for the U.S. Navy, SPAWAR Systems Center in San Diego, California.

The new MEGA is a VME card that hosts the Navy’s critical global positioning receiver system application module. It is form, fit, and functionally compatible with existing cards which have reached their end-of-life. This new card is a critical part of the Navys effort to upgrade its maritime global positioning system to be secure Selective Availability Anti-spoof Module (SAASM) compliant.

SAASM falls under the Space-based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing policy signed in December 2004 by President Bush to improve the United States ability to deny enemy use of any space-based positioning, navigation, and timing services without excessively interrupting commercial and civil uses. SAASM ensures that those hostile to the U.S. cannot mimic legitimate GPS signals or introduce erroneous position and time information.

Cornet Technology Communications has two decades of experience in developing secure and non-secure products that meet the exacting functionality and form factor requirements of the government sector. This experience will enable the company to fast track development to meet the Navys delivery requirements.
