September 18, 2007—LeCroy Corporation, a leading supplier of oscilloscopes and serial protocol solutions announced that the PCI-SIG®, the Special Interest Group responsible for PCI Express, is evaluating the LeCroy PTC card as a standard test tool for PCI Express 2.0 protocol verification. LeCroy’s new PTC has been developed in close collaboration with the Intel Corporation and PCI Express Industry, and is specifically designed to meet industry requirements for next generation development tools for PCI Express. This new tool will be used by validation and test engineers to check for functionality of add-in cards, systems, and chips that use PCI Express 2.0.
‘We are impressed with the state of the LeCroy Protocol Test Card (PTC) for PCI Express 2.0 to run link and transaction level compliance tests,” said Jim Pappas, Director of Technology Initiatives at Intel Corporation. “The evaluation process will prove out a reliable tool as a standard for PCI Express 2.0 compliance.”
The PTC Card was introduced into the early “FYI” compliance testing at the PCI-SIG August Compliance Workshop. The feedback from this event will enable steady development progress of this card and enable LeCroy to deliver this tool for future PCI Express Compliance Workshops.
“LeCroy has been a strong supporter of the PCI-SIG and its Compliance Program for several years,” said Al Yanes, PCI-SIG president. “With PCI Express 2.0 development taking off, PCI-SIG is pleased to see the support from member companies like LeCroy.”
“We have been the industry leader in compliance tools such as the PETrainer™ Exerciser and compliance test suites such as SpekChek™”, said John Wiedemeier, Product Marketing Manager at LeCroy. “With this new PCI Express 2.0 Protocol Test Card, we have focused our expertise into delivering a quality tool that provides a comprehensive test capability for any company developing products for PCI Express 2.0.”
In addition to the PTC, LeCroy has also announced the Summit Z2-16 Exerciser for PCI Express 2.0 at this event. Engineers who are interested in going beyond compliance testing and need help in corner case testing and performance analysis will find the Summit Z2-16 an ideal tool for the lab.
LeCroy protocol analyzers and exercisers have been at the forefront of PCI Express development tools. All LeCroy protocol analyzers feature a hierarchical display, real-time statistics, protocol traffic summaries, detailed error reports, powerful scripting, and the ability to create user-defined test reports, which allow developers to troubleshoot intricate problems and finish their projects on time.
