Ottawa, Canada — Sept. 19, 2005– Continuing to demonstrate the company’s technology leadership, ICS – part of Radstone Embedded Computing – today announced a significant upgrade to the acclaimed ICS daqPC Data Acquisition, Storage and Network System. Previously capable of an industry-leading sustained, continuous recording and playback speed of 400 MBytes/second, the upgrade delivers an astonishing 600 MBytes/second, placing the ICS daqPC well ahead of competing data acquisition and recording solutions.

“The growing importance of sensors – whether sonar, radar or radio – in today’s demanding applications is leading to increases in channel density and the need for even greater bandwidth – and that’s driving our customers to require ever-increasing processing power in order to capture more data more rapidly,” said Angsuman Rudra, Director of Systems at ICS. “This announcement is in response to the demands of those customers for a powerful, compact and easy-to-use solution, and reinforces the leadership position of ICS in a highly competitive market.”

The ICS daqPC is a PC-based, fully configured sensor processing solution; which is tailored by ICS to specific user requirements. Available in rackmount and portable versions, and using ICS and third party boards, a daqPC is integrated for real-time applications that require acquisition, processing and archiving of analog input signals. At the heart of the daqPC are ICS analog I/O products that provide high channel count and/or high bandwidth capability. The compelling competitive advantage of the daqPC is its high-speed record/playback capability, using removable hard drives: no other system currently available is capable of matching its sustained, continuous recording rate of 600 MBytes/second. This implies that at 200 kHz/channel sample rate up to 1500 channels of data (each digitized with a 16-bit ADC) can be recorded in real-time. Alternately, three 40 MHz bandwidth (flat-top) signals (sampled at 100 MHz rate) can be recorded in real-time. Maximum storage capacity of the daqPC in a 7U (12.3”) height chassis is over 2.8 terabytes. The daqPC is capable of analog playback of recorded data, features a 1 Gigabit network interface and supports time stamping recorded data.

The upgraded daqPC is available immediately.
