Sunnyvale, CA— February 20, 2012 —PCI-SYSTEMS Inc., a leading supplier of conduction cooled VPX systems, has been awarded by a prime contractor based in Maryland, to deliver DesertGecko 3U VPX systems based on Juniper Networks LN 1000 router and PCI-Systems managed conduction cooled Gigabit Ethernet switch.
“Having delivered several conduction cooled 3U VPX 8 slot DesertGecko type chassis to Juniper for testing production quantities of their LN1000 router in temperature chambers”, Claus Gross, President of PCI Systems Inc. states, “our engineers have detailed knowledge on how to implement the LN1000 router in multiple slot VPX chassis for a variety of applications. Therefore a prime contractor asked us to integrate the LN1000 with our 16 channel Gigabit Ethernet switch and several other custom functions into our DesertGecko chassis”.
The DesertGecko chassis can be used for 28V, 48V and 110V input ranges by just changing the wide input power supply modules. A range of 8.5V to 37V covers basically 12V, 24V and 28V applications.
Of course all PCI SYSTEMS chassis are designed to meet the following environmental specifications:
• MIL-STD 810F
o Operating Temperature: -40 to +85 °C at the board rail.
o Humidity: 0 to 95% Humidity / Non-condensing
o Shock: 40G / 11mS
o Vibration: 14Grms / 20-2000Hz
o EMC: Designed to meet intent of MIL-STD 461D (RE, RS, CE, CS)
o Conformal coating applied, parts are undercoated with epoxy.
o MIL-STD-1275B Military Vehicles 28DC
o MIL-STD-461E EMI, Ground CS101 and CE102
o Integrated EMI Filter per MIL-STD-461
o Transient Protection per MIL-STD-704A through E
o MIL-STD-1275AT w/ Reverse Polarity protection
PCI-SYSTEMS Inc. develops and manufactures intelligent VPX Systems, cPCI, CPU and peripheral boards as well as advanced mechanical design solutions in the US and Germany for many platforms that provide precision control of robotic and automated equipment in the semiconductor, medical and industrial equipment markets as well as for ruggedized embedded OEM applications in airborne and defense applications.
