ESCONDIDO, Calif. – May 1, 2012 – One Stop Systems, Inc. (OSS), the leader in custom and semi-custom PCI Express (PCIe) expansion and custom computing solutions systems for commercial and defense applications, announced that it has delivered two of its new PCIe Gen 3 expansion enclosures to NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s High-End Computer Network (HECN) Team. NASA is using these latest technology enclosures to demonstrate high speed diskto-disk transfers. Each enclosure supports up to eight RAID controllers that transfer data to solid-state disk drives, achieving diskto- disk transfer speeds that exceed 100Gb/s. These unprecedented data transfer speeds allow NASA to predict climate change and other complex modeling and simulation tasks.

“One Stop Systems has previously supplied NASA with Gen 2 expansion enclosures that achieved 60 Gbps disk-to disk over the Internet and tested up to 72 Gbps disk-to-disk,” said Steve Cooper, CEO. “We are confident that the Gen 3 expansion system will help HECN exceed 100 Gbps disk-to-disk transfers.”

About the PCIe Gen 3 2U Expansion Enclosure

The configurable 2U PCIe Gen 3 expansion enclosure has the capability to expand one or two Gen 3 x16 slots to as many as 4 double-width x16, full-height, full-length PCIe cards. Each PCIe x16 Gen 3 Host Interface Board (HIB), when plugged into a x16 Gen 3 server slot, can provide 128 Gbps of bandwidth to the 2U expansion system. The flexible configuration options allow the PCIe Gen 3 Expansion system to support many high-performance applications in the supercomputing, storage, simulation and post-production video markets by allowing multiple PCIe Gen 2 or Gen 3 GPUs, RAID controllers, NAND Flash cards, FPGAs or other accelerator cards to be plugged into one or more PCIe Gen 3 server slots.

The 2U PCIe Gen 3 expansion enclosures provide full 80Gb/s bandwidth to each expansion slot making them ideal for supporting multiple GPUs in a single system. This is especially attractive to high performance computing (HPC) and data center applications. The 2U model with dual 850 watt power supplies, dual x16 cable adapters, two 2 meter cables, and eight PCIe x16 slots (OSS-PCIe3-2U-ENCL-EXP-8-2) lists for $4,395. Both of these and other models are available immediately.
