FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz., October 30, 2012 — OpenSystems Media (OSM), LLC, a leading provider of news and content covering the embedded technology industry, announced it has launched EDA Digest on today at ARM TechCon 2012. The new publication on Electronic Design Automation (EDA) technology and markets will be headed by OSM industry expert Mike Demler, who brings more than 30 years of IC design, software tools, and semiconductor industry experience to the Editorial Director position.
Expanding coverage of the EDA industry, EDA Digest (www.edadigest.com) will provide an annual Resource Guide in print and digital formats, a series of email newsletters, and a social media component to keep readers regularly updated with original content, news, and insight into industry trends. The inaugural issue also includes a gatefold cover that outlines both the EDA ecosystem and the publication’s coverage areas, and includes the super groups of Digital Design and Verification, Custom/Analog Design and Verification, DFM and Physical Verification, Semiconductor IP, Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), TCAD, and DFT Tools.
“At a time when the challenges in electronics design have never been greater, the EDA industry has lost coverage in many professional trade press publications. OpenSystems Media has provided valuable content to design engineers for many years, and I am happy to be working with them to reverse this trend with the introduction of EDA Digest,” stated Demler on the structure of OpenSystems Media’s latest endeavor. “In the development of EDA Digest, we started by developing a taxonomy of the EDA ecosystem, which will guide our coverage and enable us to direct engineers to tools and solutions that will make their jobs easier. With our annual EDA Digest Resource Guide, EDA vendors, semiconductor IP providers, and design services companies large or small now have a vehicle for positioning their offerings to precisely connect with target customers.”
The first issue, which focuses on the state of innovation in EDA, includes selections for 2012’s Top Innovators in EDA, interviews with executives from Cadence Design Systems, Mentor Graphics, and Synopsys, as well as an industry perspective from EDA Consortium Chairman Kathryn Kranen. In addition to its availability at ARM TechCon, EDA Digest will be distributed digitally and in print to a readership of more than 24,000.
“I am particularly pleased with our first edition, as Mike Demler and the production team developed a unique visual representation of the EDA ecosystem,” Rosemary Kristoff, President of OpenSystems Media commented on the addition of EDA Digest to the company’s family of embedded technology publications. “This taxonomy provides a clear depiction of the EDA landscape and identifies how the tools match up. The first issue will engage and inform the audience, and will be distributed in print at ARM TechCon 2012 with a digital version available online.”
