Toronto, Ontario, November 29, 2010. ALT Software has received a contract award from Lockheed Martin to provide embedded graphics display drivers and hardware support for the company’s next generation avionics hardware.

Lockheed Martin recently developed a single-board computer (SBC) with two on-board AMD ATI E4690 graphics processors to enhance cockpit display monitors that provide pilots with greater situational awareness. This new general purpose SBC provides a powerful solution for high performance data processing and graphics rendering of complex mission data in avionics systems as well as in ground and naval based defense platforms. ALT Software will provide embedded graphics drivers for the E4690 as well as DO-178B certification support. ALT also provides long term lifecycle management and component supply of the E4690 graphics processor through an exclusive agreement with Channel One International.

ALT Software is recognized internationally for its expertise in enabling graphics technologies such as embedded X11, OpenGL SC and OpenGL ES 2.0 in mil-aero platforms, as well as for the interoperability of their device software products and solid track record of supporting the DO-178B certification process for safety critical avionics systems.

“This contract win expands the hardware choices available to our mil-aero customers,” said Dan Joncas, Vice-President of Sales at ALT Software. “Next to our software’s reliable performance and safety-critical standards compliance, a key strength for system designers is its interoperability with other embedded system components. Device manufacturers can determine the ideal system configuration for their product and ALT will deliver the software that drives the graphics on that particular platform. Our software solutions are built as close to COTS as possible out of the box, then customized for the target system before delivery. The result is a lean, custom configured DO-178B certifiable display driver with the cost-efficiencies of a COTS product.”
