Monroe, NY, February 2005 – Acqiris, a leading manufacturer of data conversion instruments, announces it will provide VMETRO with its 2 GS/sec streamer-analyzer technology for use in a high-performance data collection and recording system to be deployed by Syracuse Research Corporation in Syracuse, New York.
“Since our system leverages Acqiris’ streamer-analyzer technology, it is capable of unprecedented sustained performance of 2 gigabytes per second over optical Serial Front Panel Data Port (SFPDP) links,” said Tom Bohman, VMETRO’s Vice President of Business Development. “Acqiris’ waveform digitizer products help us meet our customers’ needs for better and faster data acquisition systems.”
“We are confident that our digitizers will meet and exceed the performance requirements of VMETRO and the COTS market,” said Didier Lavanchy, Vice President of Marketing at Acqiris.

Acqiris’ waveform digitizers feature an Optical Data Link (ODL), a high-speed optical data transceiver system that provides data streaming at rates of up to 30 Gbps. The high-speed streamer analyzers are designed to be used coupled with mass storage devices or subsequent post processing engines and cover data streaming requirements
encountered in advanced radar-related signal processing, such as Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), and are ideal for homeland security, radio astronomy, and any other application requiring scalable real-time data sampling and storage.
The new streamer-analyzers provide on-board high-performance data handling through a Data Processing Unit (DPU). This allows the acquired data to be passed in its raw state, or with some DPU-implemented preprocessing, through the two optical ports, compliant to the Serial Front Panel Data Port (SFPDP) protocol. The standard ODL offers 2 bi-directional optical links, each capable of simultaneously transmitting and receiving data at up to 2.5 Gbps. The optional high-rate ODL offers 12 bi-directional optical data links with an aggregate throughput of up to 30 Gbps, or as multiple individual links, each at 2.5 Gbps.
