Helicopter brownouts, blinding conditions caused by takeoff and landing in dust and sand, are a major threat to helicopter safety and a leading cause of crashes. LADAR technology sees through the dust cloud, creating a three-dimensional view that helps a pilot maintain spatial orientation and avoid obstacles.

“We are proud of the results achieved by our partnership with AFRL and pleased to be given the opportunity to build upon that success”, said Dr. Michael Babst, President of DSPlogic. “We are committed to helping AFRL achieve their LADAR technology objectives.”

About the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate

Headquartered at Eglin AFB, Fla., the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate (AFRL/MN) develops, demonstrates and transitions science and technology for air-launched munitions for defeating ground fixed, mobile/relocatable, air and space targets to assure pre-eminence of U.S. air and space forces. The directorate conducts basic research, exploratory development, and advanced development and demonstrations. It also participates in programs focused on technology transfer, dual-use technology and small business development. The directorate is dedicated to providing the Air Force with a strong revolutionary and evolutionary technology base upon which future air-delivered munitions can be developed to neutralize potential threats to the United States
