Toronto, Canada – GAO Research Inc. (www.GAOResearch.com) has released a new version of the G.722.2 (AMR-WB) vocoder, which has been upgraded for better performance. This vocoder is ITU-T G.722.2 compliant and has passed all ITU-T test vectors. The G.722.2 standard uses a wideband, adaptive multi-rate algorithm. Applications for this vocoder include video phones, audio/video conferencing, and media gateways.

GAO’s G.722.2 vocoder provides both full and half duplex modes of operation and operates at rates of 6.6kbit/s to 23.85kbit/s. By utilizing a wide bandwidth of 50Hz to 7KHz, the G.722.2 algorithm provides higher-than-toll quality speech. The algorithm utilizes ACELP technology. Both the IP network and the 3G network use G.722.2 which provides seamless interoperability. All GAO software are subject to the most stringent quality control procedures, which is reflected in its well structured code, detailed design documentation, and well-defined design and test plans. This ensures ease of integration into the user’s system, easy maintenance, and a smooth upgrade path for next-generation products.
